paul stephen duffy
Born and raised in southern California, paul stephen duffy now makes his home in the Midwestern United States. He writes, records, and performs all his material. "I found out early on that musically, if you want things done a certain way, it's almost easier to do them yourself. I enjoy getting away to my craft, just me, God, and whatever musical vision comes that day. It's a pleasure for me to know that someone, somewhere, is out there enjoying my music. I hope it continues for a long time."
Paul's musical influences are many and varied: from Van Morrison to the Cranberries, from Creedence to U2. "The main thing I wish to do is take the listeners on a short journey, where the music and lyrics portray a certain mood I'm seeking. If my songs don't achieve that, I start over."
So far Paul has released two CD's - 'Remedies and Colors' (2003), and 'Still, It Rains' (2006). "I was very pleased with the response I got because I did minimal promotion. A number of my songs were discovered and started getting airplay in various places: the U.S., UK, and eastern Europe."
''December Song', from "Still, It Rains" became a finalist for Radio Six International's Record of the Year award in Scotland. "I was blown away by that because I make my music in relative seclusion. So, knowing it was being heard across the seas was pretty awesome for me."
Paul is continuing to work on his third CD entitled simply, '3'. "I don't have a specific date for its release. We'll see how long it takes for things to come together."
